COMMUNICATION INTERNSHIP
Thijs Biersteker - Woven Foundation

Hey, we need your help!
If you’re passionate about working at the unique intersection of digital art and science communication, the Woven Foundation could be the perfect place for you.

We’re offering an internship where you’ll gain hands-on experience in science communication through art. You will work closely together with artist Thijs Biersteker and our team to create communication that gives research reach, to the heads of state and the hearts of the public.

At Woven Foundation, led by artist Thijs Biersteker, we transform environmental data into immersive art installations that make complex environmental issues accessible, understandable, and relatable. Our work is exhibited at world-class venues and global conferences such as the Barbican Centre, Fondation Cartier, COP, IUCN, the World Economic Forum, and more.

We offer a dynamic work environment, financial compensation, great coffee, and shared team lunches.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about making a positive impact on the world

  • Has a strong interest in both art and science communication

  • Is available for at least 5 months (or more), for a minimum of 32 hours per week

  • Is currently enrolled at a university or school, or is part of the Erasmus+ scholarship program

Our Woven Studio
We’re based in Maakgemeenschap De Hoop in Zaandam—just 10 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station or Sloterdijk. Our workday starts at 9:15 AM and usually runs until around 5 or 6 PM.

Our studio is located in a transformed old paper factory, now a vibrant community of artist ateliers. Spanning 190m² and situated by the water, it offers an inspiring and creative workspace. Plus, we have our own in-house coffee roaster and enjoy freshly made salads every Tuesday!

Interested?
Apply with a short motivation and your work in a PDF or a link to your site, and send it to sophie.dekrom@woven-foundation.org.

We’ll get back to everyone as soon as possible. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thijs, Sophie, Tomas, Andrea, Denisa and the rest of the team.
