Internship Interactive Art & Technical Build
Thijs Biersteker - Woven Studio
Hey, we might need your help…..
If you love to work on the intersection of digital art, science and sustainable engineering then Woven Studio might be your spot to try out everything. From researching as a journalist to building like a construction worker. Thijs Biersteker and his Woven Studio produce eco-awareness installations in museums around the world. These interactive art installations create talking points about the issues that we need to talk about.
We offer an internship where you can experiment with all sorts of different techniques to create interactive artworks that talk about today's most important issues. Work with data coming from living trees, turn visitors into ocean plastic and let the rainforest disappear in front of your eyes.
We’re looking for an intern to support the development of our art installations. The focus of your work will be on technical engineering, robotics and experiment, but also helping to build up installations for different exhibitions.
You can have a background in engineering, architecture, coding and hack, we even had some advertising students with handy skills.
We’re looking for someone who:
- loves to do good for the world
- is practical and likes art
- hopefully isn’t afraid of an Arduino or two
- is eager to learn and understands circular and sustainable materials
- is available for at least 4 months or more
You will be working together with the artist and the whole team and will get time to build a project of your own (sorry we do not guide graduation projects).
Period: starting from 1 September, minimum of 24 hrs per week
The studio
We’re housed in the inspiring ‘Maakgemeenschap de Hoop’ in Zaandam. An old paper factory that is transformed into a community of artist ateliers. Here we have a 150m2 studio near the water with great coffee from our in house coffee roaster.
