Technical Build and Interactive Art
Thijs Biersteker - Woven Studio

Are you looking to experiment with the latest technologies to make art and to turn visitors into ocean plastic, using data coming from living trees and let the rainforest disappear in front of your eyes? Then this is your spot.

We’re a sustainable studio that works together with universities, research groups and companies to weave together facts and ecology using technology. We create interactive experiences that talk about climate change, pollution and deforestation.

We’re looking for an intern to support with the development of our interactive art installations. The focus of your work will be on technical engineering, robotics and experiment, but also helping to build up installations for different exhibitions.

Location
Our studio is situated in the inspiring ‘Maakgemeenschap de Hoop’ in Zaandam.
An old paper factory that is transformed into a community of artist ateliers.

We’re looking for someone who:
- loves to do good for the world
- is practical and likes art
- has engineering knowledge and isn't afraid of an Arduino or two
- understands circular and sustainable materials
- is available for at least 4 months or more

You will work closely together with artist Thijs Biersteker and the tech team in the development and build of our interactive installations and will get free time to build on your own projects (no graduation projects).

Period: starting from 1 September
Hours: minimum of 24 hrs per week
